Ivan Mesotrovic had the gallery’s building constructed for him as an exhibition hall and residential area for artists. He later donated the building to Croatia’s people and the gallery now displays the majority of his work, which became open to the public in 1952. The gallery includes wooden figures of Adam and Eve, and a plaster sculpture entitled Pieta. There are additional sculptures in the park beside the gallery. The gallery also includes photographic material relating to the artist.
