The collection for the archaeological site Issa is housed on the upper floor of an Austrian fort named Our Lady’s Battery that was built in 1842. The archaeological site of Issa is thought to be ancient Greek and is situated on the slopes of Gradina. There are other archaeological finds from the island and recovered items from the shipwreck at the Vela Svitnja cove. Issa was a city from the fourth to first century B.C until it was dominated by the Romans.
