Bakar Castle

Bakar Castle was mentioned in historical documents when King Ferdinand I requested a new fortification due to fears of an invasion. The Zrinski’s later took on ownership of the castle. It was damaged by earthquakes in the eighteenth century and is currently in a decrepit condition. The triangular foundation plan of the castle dates from the sixteenth century. The castle contains two former jails.
