The castle was named after a legend about a Chech lady called Marusa who chose to live at this location. The castle was mentioned in historical documents in 1321 and was owned at that time by the Vragovic family. It has been refurbished many times to include a Germanic styled edifice, a tall tower and a southern entrance portal. The castle was given to the village in 1999.
