The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was erected in its present shape during the 5th century but there was already a church here prior to that. The church has been reconstructed/renovated many times since then. The Cathedral includes blocks from the Amphitheatre in its construction and there is a Renaissance facade built in the sixteenth century. The belfry dates from the seventeenth century. Inside close to the altar van be seen mosaic fragments from the fifth century.
