St. Barbara’s Chapel in Velika Mlaka was founded in 1642 and is an excellent example of wooden architecture in Turopolje. The chapel is of interest to ethnologists because of its unusual construction. The interior of the chapel contains seventeenth and eighteenth paintings which show the story of both Christ and St Barbara. There are also nineteenth century panelling decorated with flowers and ornaments. The bell tower was replaced in the eighteenth century and has been restored several times.
