This church is dedicated to St John of Capistrano, an apostle who came to die here for religious reasons. The Franciscan monks were first mentioned here in the fourteenth century, the chapel that Capistrano prayed in is still preserved and many visitors and pilgrims come to visit. His manuscripts are kept in the nearby restored friary (neo-gothic style). His death is celebrated on October 23rd.
