The Croatian Natural History Museum was founded in 1986 and holds over 250,000 different species that can be found in collections such as rocks and minerals or the palaeontological collection. One of the most important Neanderthal collections in the world can be found here and it is named the "Kaprina Pre-Historic Man Collection". Thematic exhibitions are held regularly at the museum. Exotic species of Croatian flora and fauna can be found within the museum, including herbaria.
