The Dominican Monastery in Dubrovnik was erected in the fourteenth century and it is hidden behind the Sponza Palace. The cloister was designed by Maso di Bartolomeo in the gothic style during the fifteenth century and it contains many palm and orange trees as well as Mediterranean paintings. The monastery was also built to help strengthen the city’s fortifications hence why it is backed up against the wall around the city.
