The Dubrovnik summer festival was founded in the 1950s during a time of increased theatre and music events worldwide. The summer festival was intended to capture the renaissance and baroque feeling of the city of Dubrovnik through drama and music. Ballet and dance shows are performed in the Revelin Fort Terrace and operas at the Rector’s Palace. In the Boskovic Square open air plays and opera singers perform. Many notable philharmonic orchestras have performed at this impressive festival.
