The ethnographic museum was opened in 1991 in the newly renovated building of the Rupe Granary. The granary dates from 1590 and was built by the Dubrovnik government. It was used to store the reserves of grain in fifteen containers. The original look of the ground floor where the containers were stored has been preserved and three wells were founded. The museum’s exhibition mainly concentrates on the cultural heritage of the Dubrovnik region and there are pictures illustrating the history of the building.
