Fort Sokol was built on the site of an Illyrian and Roman fortification and some of the former brickwork was included in the construction of the walls on top of the natural cliff overlooking the Konavle valley.
The fortress was an important strategic defence fort and was well supplied during the time it was occupied. There are spectacular views from the fortress.
