Franz Joseph I and King Zvonimir’s park were created during the late nineteenth century as the city of Pula expanded. Franz Joseph I park was the city park and the King Zvonimir’s Park is known as the Riviera Park. There is a children’s playground and a fountain in Franz Joseph’s. Exotic species of trees include the Japanese Plum Yew, Holm oak, hackberry tree and the Canary Date Palm which was brought here in the eighteenth century.
