Hektorovic’s Tvradalj

The Tvrdalj is a famous important fortified building in the centre of Stari Grad. It dates from the sixteenth century but was renovated in the Baroque style more recently. It is well known for being the home of the poet Petar Hektorovic who wrote the poem Rubarije I ribarsko prigovaranje, a notable literary text. The building surrounds a fish pond with a tower dominating the Tvrdalj that contains a dove cote, there are a number of inscriptions around that are of interest.
