The town of Korcula claims to be the birthplace of the famous writer and explorer Marco Polo who lived between 1254 and 1324. It is believed that he was born in this house which now contains an exhibition which is dedicated to this man. In Korcula’s favour are documents relating to a De Polo family who lived in the town at the right name but other sources place him in Venice.
