Hvar’s Franciscan monastery was founded in the 1500’s by a Venetian sea captain after surviving a shipwreck near Hvar and later became a hospice for sailors when a new church was built nearby. The monastery church contains a notable partition dating from 1583 and is decorated with six scenes from the Passion by a local painter Martin Benetovic. The gravestone of Hanibal Lucic can be found here. The monastery collection includes paintings of the Last Supper by Matej Ponzoni-Oincun.
