The village of Lukovdol is the birth place of the poet Ivan Goran Kovacic and the house in which lived has been turned into a memorial museum. This museum contains a permanent exhibition of his life and works as well as a gallery and library. His birthday is celebrated each year on May 21st by a festival called Goran’s Spring. Ivan Goran Kovacic’s poetry is anti-war and one notable piece is called Zama. A film was also made about him.
