Krka National Park was founded in 1985 and encompasses part of the Krka River. Ten endemic species of fish can be found within the river and 18 species of bats flying at night. The river is a natural karstic phenomenon and several cascades can be found along it, the most spectacular of these is roski slap. The archaeological site Bribirska Glavica is inside the park and dates from the Stone Age, there are also several fifteenth century fortifications.
