The Mirali can be found along a five kilometre trail through the mountain side of the Velebit’s Mountains. The Mirali are stone monuments to the dead that date from as early as the seventeenth century to the twentieth century. These stone tablets mark where people rested the dead body once between place of death on the mountain side and the burial site. Some of the stones have artistic markings upon them relating to a unique funeral cult. Most of the departed worked in animal husbandry in this area.
