Motovun is a small medieval town which atop a hill and is surrounded by a twelfth century city wall. The inside of the walls have coats of arms from different families. The church of St Stephen is Renaissance and contains a seventeenth century painting of the Last Supper. In front of the church is a medieval well. The surrounding area is well known for wine produced from grapes grown on the side of the hill and close by is the Motovun forest where truffles are found.
