The museum of contemporary art in Zagreb was founded in 1954. The majority of the art work dates from after 1950 and some pieces came from donations by people such as Benko Horvat and Seissel. The collection holds over nine thousand works of art that includes modern art, contemporary pieces, international works, marginal art, posters, photography and film. There is also a collection by Vjencivslav Richter which represents constructivist art from the 1950s and 60s.
