The museum is housed inside the Normamn Prandau castle. The eighteenth century building was originally a medieval fortification designed to defend against the Turks and was reconstructed by the Hilleprand von Prandau family. The gardens of the castle were designed in the English style of landscaping. The museum holds collections of local ethnological items, various items from the castle and grounds including hunting trophies.
