The Naval Park in Pula dates from 1863 and is rectangular in shape. The main attraction in the park is the marble column dedicated to Archduke Maximilian. Many of the plant species were brought to the park by ships from all over the world for Maximilian, it has been known as a botanical park. Of particular interest are the sequoia, which are one of the tallest conifers in the world, and several different species of pines.
