Orebic Franciscan Monastery

Orebic’s Franciscan Monastery is situated above the town and was built in 1480 to look after a special icon that was brought by monks from the Bay of Kotar near Dubrovnik. The icon was thought to protect sailors from shipwrecking themselves on the way to the Orebic port. The museum at the monastery contains a number of paintings and models of local ships.
