The Church of Our Lady of Trsat was supposedly built upon the spot where the Holy House of the Virgin Mary and Joseph rested for 3 years between 1291 and 1294 while fleeing Nazareth. The church dates from the eighteenth century but was renovated in 1824. Female pilgrims frequent the church and may be seen climbing Trsat’s steps on their knees.
