Paklenica National Park’s highest peak is Vaganski Vrh at 1757 metres. The part has a number of canyons, karstic features, caves and pits. There are over 70 caves throughout the park. There are forty endemic species of flora, some rare butterflies and a couple of breeding pairs of the griffon vulture. The park has been inhabited since the prehistoric times and has over 150 kilometres of hiking trails. The area is also abundant in water mills and the underground tunnels of the Velika Paklenica Canyon are of particular interest.
