The Pjaca square is said to be the largest town square on the Croatian coast. It was originally surrounded by gardens and was formed in 1780 when a swampy bay was filled in then paved with slabs. The square has direct access to the sea. The nearby public fountain near the Bishop’s Residence was built in 1554 and the public cistern in 1519, there is a Renaissance arch within the square.
