The Romanesque Basilica of St. Mary of the Sea is a medieval monument. The original building dated from the eighth century but has been reconstructed many times until the current twelfth century structure. Beside the church is the remains of a monastery once inhabited by the Carmelites until the middle of the fourteenth century when it was left empty until the seventeenth century and taken over by the Franciscans.
