The fortress of Ruzica town is the largest preserved complex in Slavonia. It is situated on the Papuk mountain range, and it was first mentioned in 1228. It has been owned by a number of different aristocrats and then became owned by the Turks in 1543. The fortress then became a military town and became deserted at some point during the eighteenth century. The fortress is only accessible by foot from the Orahovica Lake.
