The museum of Sibenik was founded in 1925 to celebrate the thousandth anniversary of Croatia and it is located in the old duke’s palace that used to be part of the town’s defensive system. The museum holds over 150,000 items that are divided into archaeological and historical and ethnological sections. There are many artifacts that have been recovered from archaeological sites from the area around Sibenik and also from underwater sites.
