Siljana Forest is a pleasant short escape from the city of Pula. There are a number of paths leading through the forest where you can look at the various species of protected flora and fauna. The forest used to be the home for the Austro-Hungarian army and was known as the Kaiserwald . Notable species of trees are the cork and downy oak and also the Turkish pine. There is a legend associated with the forest.
