The Sinjska Alka is a knight tournament that is held every August and was started in 1715 to commemorate the victory over the Ottoman Turkish conquest. The Alka is an object used during the tournament; two rings connected by 3 bars and is hung on a rope above the race track. Only men born in the town of Sinj can take part in the tournament.
