On St Mary’s Island, down the Veliko Jezero, is a Benedictine monastery. The monastery was built in the twelfth century and the church building has several features made from local coloured stone. The monastery has an adjoining defensive tower. St Mary’s church is accessible by boat from Mali Most, a little bridge near Pomena. The Benedictine monastery is now a restaurant and opened in 1994.
