The parish church of St Pelagius in Novigrad is thought to thought to date from the eighth century however early Christian window frames have been found which may suggest earlier. The church has been renovated several times in its lifetime and the bell tower was replaced in 1874. The interior of the church was painted with frescoes in the middle ages and the facade (neo-classicist) was completed in 1935. The altar is Baroque and the crypt, Romanesque.
