The town of Sveti Lovrec is famous for being a medieval fortified town which is very well preserved. It was named after the Church of St Lawrence that dates from the Eighth Century; the church has a Romanesque bell tower. The village is circular in shape and was later fortified with towers and walls. The town was once the military seat of the Venetians for Istria. The water well in the town is decorated with coats of arms.
