This is the first museum in the world that is dedicated entirely to naive art from the twentieth century. Naive art is art that is created by untrained self-taught artists and sculptors. The museum holds over 1,700 objects of art including paintings and sculptures. Four hundred of these objects are drawings and they include anthology pieces. The museum is situated within the eighteenth century Raffay Palace and it was first founded in 1952 under the name "Peasant Art Gallery".
