The museum of Croatian archaeological monuments is one of the oldest museums and it is the only museum that studies the remains of Croats from the middle Ages in a variety of ways. The Museum was founded in Knin in 1893 and displays around 25% of its collection 20,000 items. The museum has some epigraphic monuments that date from the ninth to twelfth century. The museum is also undertaking several archaeological digs throughout Croatia.
