In the forest of Turopoljski Lug can be found an unusual monument called the Timber Gate. The forest is mainly oak and is reminiscent of what used to cover this region. The forest used to provide lots of trade for the local inhabitants but was cleared to create more arable land for crops. Locally some of the land was given to the locals and as a tribute this monument was erected. It has been restored after it was pulled down in 1914.
