This is Stari Grad’s most famous sight, a summer house once owned by the sixteenth century poet Petar Hektorovic. There used to be extensive gardens here that contained herbs and box hedges. The house has a cloister in its centre with a pond containing mullet. Inside Tvrdalj contains an ethnographic collection of artefacts that were common to many Croatian kitchens and cellars.
