Veliki Tabor is a well preserved mediaeval fortified castle in the mountains of Hrvatsko Zagorje. The pentagonal tower dates from the twelfth century and the semicircular towers date from the fifteenth and sixteenth century. The monument is categorised under UNESCO’s classification. The rustical hall is decorated with halberds and in the Catle’s Chapel is housed the skull of Veronika of Desinic which has a legend attracted to it. The castle holds regular exhibitions and swordsmanship shows.
