Vrbnik is an old Mediterranean city that is situated atop a cliff with medieval defensive city walls surrounding the town. It is a popular spiritual centre with several churches and a large library. Vrbnik is popular for the locally made Vrbnicka Zlatitina which is served in the many restaurants in Vrbnik. Keep an eye out for the vineyards surrounding the town. Vrbnik was first documented in the twelfth century but has been inhabited since the prehistoric times and once had a Frankopan fortress.
